Someone said to me the other day, ‘I don’t really care about my credit, it’s really not that important to me.’
I was floored, and let me tell you why.
Your personal credit is a reflection of your personal reputation.
Think of it this way, if you were to replace the word ‘credit’ with the word ‘reputation’, would it give you a more clear perspective as to why you should care about building and protecting your good credit?
I would say the answer to that question would be a resounding YES!
You see, when it comes to ‘doing business’ out in the REAL WORLD, your reputation is all that you have, and if your reputation is damaged, very few people may be willing to help you to get what ever it is that you want.
By the way, if your reputation is damaged, and you happen to find someone who is willing to help you, I can tell you right now… getting what you want may cost you great pains not measurable in dollars. More on this later.
Now, if you are saying to yourself, ‘I don’t ‘DO BUSINESS’ out in the real world anyway, so I have nothing to worry about’, let me tell you, everyone does business in one way or another.
Whether it is to rent or buy a home, rent or buy a vehicle, apply for home or auto insurance, student loans, credit cards, and most important, getting offered a high paying career, we all get involved in DOING BUSINESS in the REAL WORLD.
What if you have aspirations to start your very own small business, or to become an investor in small business or real estate, or several other business opportunities.
By the way, many profitable opportunities that present themselves are completely unexpected, so this is yet another very important reason to care about your reputation.
The bottom line is this… your good credit (your good reputation) will make it so much easier for you to take advantage of the many opportunities that are available out in the real world.
Your good credit tells those ‘who need to know’ that YOU are a person of integrity and a person that keeps their word, and THAT kind of credit (reputation) is priceless.
